The Shark Pinch boot, revisited by Sarah Burton for Givenchy, is now available on the house's website, reports Footwear News. Sarah Burton has reinterpreted this emblematic house model to place it in a new era.
The model was unveiled on the Paris runway during the fall 2026 ready-to-wear show, earlier this year. It was presented there in six variations, with the original signature line extended to the thigh.
The Shark Pinch draws on the house's history. Its very first iteration dates back to the fall/winter 2008 couture collection. The model was then developed for the pre-fall 2012 women's ready-to-wear collection, where it received the name Shark, a reference to its shark-tooth-shaped clasp. The metal « Pinch » hardware that now completes the model was introduced as an accessory element during fall/winter '25, Sarah Burton's first season at the head of the house.
In terms of construction, the boot stands out for a double shaft that creates a sculptural, fluid and balanced silhouette. The Pinch hardware reprises the signature motif already used on Givenchy bags, derived from the tailoring techniques developed by Sarah Burton.
Visibility driven by celebrities
The model now appears in the house's fall 2026 campaign, where Kaia Gerber and Eva Herzigová each wear a different version of the boot. Several celebrities have also adopted it outside the advertising context. Anya Taylor-Joy wore a bow corset dress embroidered with old-master-style floral motifs, in duchesse satin, paired with a thigh-high version of the Shark Pinch, during the promotional tour for « The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ». Ariana Grande opted for a custom draped corset dress in duchesse satin, embroidered with silver wisteria, matched with a platform version of the boot, for the opening of her « Eternal Sunshine » tour. Teyana Taylor paired a red split-back sweater dress and bow belt with the thigh-high black leather version, worn with the house's candy-colored gloves, at a pre-Oscars party. Jodie Comer wore an ankle-high black leather version with a white poplin midi shirt dress at a London photocall for « The Death of Robin Hood », on Wednesday.
In an official statement, Givenchy describes the Shark Pinch as embodying « la tension entre structure, sensualité et émancipation féminine qui est au cœur du vocabulaire créatif de Sarah Burton ».
