Coty is said to have appointed Kara Langan General Manager of Consumer Beauty US, according to Cosmetics Business. The executive would join the group on 13 October and would be based in New York.
With more than 20 years of experience leading consumer brands, Kara Langan would report to Amaury De Vallois, Executive VP, UUCAN, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to Gordon von Bretten, President of Consumer Beauty at Coty. She reportedly most recently held the position of Chief Marketing Officer of Face and Skincare at Evermark, a personal care platform where she led marketing for a portfolio of heritage brands. Her background would also include the role of Global President of Vogue International at Johnson & Johnson Consumer, parent company of the hair care brand OGX, as well as stints at Elizabeth Arden and Revlon.
This appointment would come after the recent arrival of Vanessa Kidd as EVP, Lifestyle Scenting Global Brands and NPD at Coty. Gordon von Bretten praised both executives: « Kara and Vanessa are proven leaders with outstanding track records of transforming brands, driving growth and building high-performing teams ». He added: « Their appointments reflect the momentum we are building across consumer beauty and our ability to attract top industry talent. »
Coty's Consumer Beauty business includes brands such as Bourjois, Covergirl, Max Factor and Rimmel. These arrivals come during a quarter of mixed results for the group, with revenue gains offset by pressure on underlying consumer beauty sales growth in the fourth quarter.
Gordon von Bretten stated: « As we continue to execute our strategy and invest behind our brands, these leaders bring the expertise and perspectives needed to strengthen our business and unlock future growth. » Kara Langan's start date is expected to be 13 October.
