Debenhams Group announced leadership changes within its board of directors, with immediate effect. Iain McDonald has been appointed once again as non-executive chairman, succeeding Tim Morris, who resigned from his duties as chairman and non-executive director after having sat on the board since May 2021.
McDonald had previously sat on the board of Debenhams Group between June 2017 and February 2026. He also heads Belerion Capital Group, a company through which he manages investment funds.
The board also welcomes two independent non-executive directors. Michael Stewart, currently a member of the British investment firm Chrysalis Investment Partners, brings 13 years of experience in investment management, public markets and growth strategy. Stephen Rothwell, founder of the British digital marketing technology company Eagle Eye Solutions Group, also joins the board.
A transition towards rebuilding value
This reshuffle comes as Debenhams Group, an online sales platform based in the Royaume-Uni, moves through a transition from its operational turnaround phase to rebuilding value for its shareholders. Dan Finley holds the position of group chief executive.
McDonald said that the progress made over the past six to twelve months is significant and that he feels « un véritable élan dans l'entreprise ». He added that he was looking forward to supporting the executive team in its efforts to restore value and engage constructively with all shareholders.
The reconstituted board must now accompany this rebuilding phase, as the group continues its transformation following its operational turnaround.
