Bugaboo, the Amsterdam-based stroller brand, has unveiled a limited-edition collection of baby products designed with British fashion house Stella McCartney. The global launch is planned for September 2026.
According to Retail Gazette, this would be Bugaboo's first brand collaboration in more than a decade. The company had previously worked with Missoni, Diesel, Kith and Marc Jacobs.
Adriaan Thierry, PDG of Bugaboo, says that « les collaborations font partie de l'ADN » of the company. He draws a parallel between the brand's founder, Max Barenburg, a design student who had designed his own stroller after deeming 1990s models outdated, and Stella McCartney's approach: « Max a fait avancer l'industrie, un peu comme Stella McCartney a été pionnière du luxe durable et sans cruauté animale dans la mode. » He also notes that the designer's Falabella bag « a été le premier ‘it bag’ végane au monde, et reste aujourd'hui l'un des sacs les plus convoités du marché ».
On the materials side, the collection's fabrics are made from recycled polyester sourced from plastic bottles and dyed using a waterless technology. The hardware uses a blend of bio-based materials and recycled aluminium.
Thierry specifies that the collection includes « des innovations fonctionnelles rendant l'usage quotidien réellement meilleur, dont un tout nouveau produit » never before offered by the brand. He frames this move as part of a growth dynamic rather than a defensive one: « Bugaboo traverse une phase de forte croissance, à la fois dans les poussettes et plus largement dans l'univers du lifestyle et de la parentalité ; ce n'est pas un geste défensif, c'est un marqueur de l'élan que nous construisons déjà. »
The stated goal remains product durability. The executive explains that he wants to « construire des produits qui durent, qui se transmettent, se revendent et se réutilisent », with repairable or replaceable parts, adding that a Bugaboo stroller is « faite pour être transmise ».
