Zara has confirmed that John Galliano's first collection for the brand, titled « Vol 1 », will be unveiled on Thursday, 1 October at 10:00 a.m. Central European Summer Time, according to FashionUnited France. The launch comes as counter-programming to the official Paris Fashion Week calendar.

On 17 March, Inditex and Zara had announced a partnership with the Gibraltarian designer. Under the agreement announced, Galliano will design seasonal collections for Zara for an initial period of at least two years. Marta Ortega Pérez, non-executive chair of Inditex, publicly named the designer as the one « que j'ai toujours le plus admiré ».

Zara described the collection in these terms: « Créé par le couturier John Galliano, construit à partir de notre mémoire, mais fait pour le présent. »

Galliano was creative director of Givenchy from 1995 to 1996, then of Dior from October 1996 to March 2011, more than 14 years in that role, before leading the Margiela house from 2014 to 2024.

The first Galliano collection for Zara will be unveiled two days after Jonathan Anderson presents his new collection for Loewe, and on the same day as the shows of Chloé, Balenciaga, Schiaparelli and Isabel Marant. Neither Zara nor any other Inditex group brand has so far taken part in the official programmes of the major international Fashion Weeks, unlike Cos, a brand of the H&M group, which has already shown in New York and Londres.

This launch comes after another initiative by the brand around creation: the capsule collection « Atlas of Desire », designed by the duo made up of filmmaker Luca Guadagnino and industrial designer Stefano Baisi, includes more than 200 pieces for men and women as well as home decor items. It was the subject of an exclusive event on Friday, 25 September at La Pelota Jai Alai in Milan, during Milan Fashion Week, held from 22 to 28 September, before being opened to the public on 26 and 27 September. It has been available since 26 September in a selection of stores and on Zara and Zara Home's e-commerce platforms.

Zara had already inaugurated an exclusive pop-up for its anniversary capsule collection « 50 creators » during the September-October 2025 edition of Paris Fashion Week. It remains to be seen whether the launch of Galliano's first collection will be accompanied by a special event, as was the case for the capsule signed Guadagnino and Baisi.
