The Flamentex International Chair of flamenco fashion, attached to the Centre supérieur d'enseignement du design artistique de Séville (ESSDM), is preparing a new international promotional event in the United States. The plan includes two shows coinciding with the New York Fashion Week, according to FashionUnited UK.

The two events will be held in September 2026 and February 2027. The next show is set for Sunday, September 13, 2026. Fashion films will be shot in several iconic New York locations, including Times Square, the Cinquième Avenue, the Hispanic Society and the Brooklyn Bridge.

The project has the backing of the city council of Séville. It is part of a strategy aimed at strengthening the presence of flamenco design on the American market and giving visibility to Andalusian creative and craft talent.

The mayor of Séville, José Luis Sanz, underlined the role of the initiative in carrying the city's talent beyond Spain's borders. « Nos designers sont les ambassadeurs d'une culture vivante et en constante évolution », he said.

The general director of the ESSDM, Francisco Valderrama, explained that the experience gained in New York has made it possible to build a network of contacts geared towards brand development and new partnerships. « L'accueil que New York a réservé à la mode flamenco a agi comme un catalyseur institutionnel pour la promotion internationale de l'un de nos signes distinctifs les plus clairs, et a débouché sur un agenda très intensif d'actions commerciales et d'accords de marque stratégiques », he stated.

Towards a centenary in 2029

The ESSDM is also preparing the launch of the Hispano-American Academy of Fashion, a project through which the institution intends to take part in the commemoration of the centenary of the Ibero-American Exposition of Séville in 2029.
