Derek Lam, founder of Derek Lam 10 Crosby, would be returning to the post of creative director of the brand, according to WWD. L'information comes after the brand's acquisition by NYC Alliance in May 2026, with the company taking over the brand from Public Clothing Co., which had itself acquired Derek Lam 10 Crosby in January 2020.
The designer had left this business in 2023 and had moved to Paris full time, according to his own comments reported by WWD. In the meantime, he held a creative director position at Câllas Milano, a brand launched in 2020 by Jan-Hendrik Schlottmann, his husband, and Marco Panzeri, general manager of Italian manufacturer Cieffe.
Derek Lam described NYC Alliance's approach as « une opportunité vraiment intéressante » (a truly interesting opportunity), raising the idea of bringing together the brand's heritage and new creative proposals. He also noted that the presence of other brands within NYC Alliance positioned the company to « grandir et se développer rapidement ».
On the timeline, the designer plans to travel to New York for about a week in October, before the precise terms of his role are defined. Public Clothing Co. meanwhile retains the Derek Lam brand, still designed by Robert Rodriguez.
